The New York Knicks won a thrilling Game 2 over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, but they now await the
status of OG Anunoby
.
Anunoby left Game 2 late in the third quarter with what was deemed a “sore left hamstring.”
In the third quarter, Anunoby led a fastbreak, but came up hobbling as he neared the basket. Anunoby stayed down for several moments, grasping at his leg, before getting up and hobbling to the sidelines. He did not return.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, there is “pessimism” within the Knicks about Anunoby’s availability for Game 3 in Indiana on Friday.
Begley reported that Anunoby’s sore hamstring is “is feared to be more than just a cramp.”
Of course, there hasn’t been official word on Anunoby’s status. It’s unclear if Anunoby is day-to-day or could miss multiple games.
Any absence would be a blow to the Knicks, who are becoming increasingly short-handed, with Julius Randle, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Mitchell Robinson all already out for the postseason.
Anunoby, who is
playing for a big new contract
this offseason, was huge in his minutes in Game 2, scoring 28 points in 28 minutes to keep the Knicks afloat.
