NBA playoffs scores: Knicks vs. Pacers live updates, highlights as New York aims for 2-0 series lead at MSG

The second round of the 2024 NBA playoffs continues on Wednesday night, as the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers collide in Game 2 of their second-round series at Madison Square Garden. Game 1 went down to the wire but unfortunately, the actions — or non-actions — of the referees dominated the conversation as the Knicks held on for a 121-117 series-opening win. Donte DiVincenzo put New York ahead for good by draining a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 40.1 seconds left and just 12 seconds after Pacers guard Aaron Nesmith was erroneously whistled for a kicked ball violation.

The teams have regrouped and are ready to renew their rivalry on Wednesday. DiVincenzo, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, all of whom played on Villanova’s national championship-winning team in 2016, combined to score 92 points for the Knicks last time out. Brunson finished with a game-high 43 as he became the fourth player in NBA history — along with Michael Jordan, Bernard King and Jerry West — to score at least 40 points in four straight playoff games.

Forward Pascal Siakam is the Pacers’ most consistent scorer. The former NBA champion pulls down his fair share of rebounds but can also knock down jumpers. He leads the team in both scoring (21.9) and boards (8.4). In his last outing, center Myles Turner tallied 23 points, three assists, one block and made two 3-pointers against the Knicks.

But Indiana needs its star Tyrese Haliburton to get back on pace. After taking just six shots in the opener at MSG, Haliburton said he’ll be more aggressive in Game 2. “I just felt like, even Game 1 of the last series, I wasn’t myself,” the two-time All-Star said on Tuesday. “Just lack of aggression, my energy was — everything was off.”
