The fifth and final season of Netflix‘s You has begun production in New York City, making it full circle for the show’s narrative. The streaming service, which revealed new characters for Season 5, shared a new photos of star Penn Badgley in the Big Apple. Find out more about the last season of the thriller.

You Season 5 returns to New York City

Netflix shared an update about where Joe Goldberg is for You’s final season. On X, they wrote, “Spotted: Joe Goldberg in New York City. The 5th and final season of YOU is now in production.”

The Netflix series, based on the novels by Caroline Kepnes, began in New York and shifted to Los Angeles, California for Season 3. In Season 3, Joe moved to San Francisco but made went across the Atlantic Ocean to London, England in Season 4. For Season 5, he comes back to New York City with his partner Kate (Charlotte Ritchie).

You star Badgley previously teased the series final at Netflix’s Tudum: A Global Fan Event last year that someone from Joe’s past will come back to torment him in Season 5. He had said, “There are many loose ends in Joe’s past.” Some of those characters who could have cause for revenge include Dr Nicky (John Stamos) from Season 1, Ellie (Jenna Ortega) from Season 2 and the Conrads (Shalita Grant and Travis Van Winkle) from Season 3.

New cast members for You Season 5

The fifth season of You will include Joe’s new in-laws. Griffin Matthews plays Kate’s brother Teddy Lockwood while Pitch Perfect’s Anna Camp has a double role as Kate’s identical twin sisters, Raegan and Maddie Lockwood. Madeline Brewer had previously been named as Bronte, Joe’s employee at the new bookstore who is also a free-spirited playwright. Her character makes Joe reconsider about his previous decisions in life.

You writers Michael Foley and Justin W Lo have been named the new showrunners for Season 5. They take over from Sera Gamble who remains as executive producer. Each season of You has continued to add viewers. You Season 4 was in Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV list for five weeks.
