Third UNC basketball player to enter transfer portal, per reports :: WRALSportsFan.com

The North Carolina men’s basketball team is losing another player to the transfer portal.
Sophomore guard Dontrez Styles is entering the transfer portal, according to On3 and other outlets, becoming the third UNC player to leave the team after a disappointing season for the Tar Heels, who missed the NCAA Tournament and declined an NIT bid.
Styles scored nine points in 25 minutes, including a big 3-pointer, in the UNC’s second-round victory against No. 1 seed Baylor in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. But he scarcely played this season. Styles, from Kinston, played in 15 games and averaged 5.9 minutes per game. He averaged 1.4 points per game.
“I’ve been trying to figure it out right now,” Styles said this week on his weekly segment on WRNS 960 AM In Kinston. “I’ve been taking the time to get away and think about things.”
Forward Justin McCoy and guard Tyler Nickel are also entering the transfer portal, according to reports.
Players who enter the portal can return to their team. Entering the portal allows other teams to contact a player. The window to enter the transfer portal opened on March 13 and closes on May 11.
Forwards Leaky Black and Pete Nance have exhausted their eligibility, but UNC starters Armando Bacot, RJ Davis and Caleb Love do have eligibility remaining.
