Two opposite ends of the table meet in matchweek 28 when Tottenham Hotspur head down to face Southampton.

Spurs, holding tight onto the fourth spot in the English Premier League table, got plenty of help last weekend in their bid to return to the Champions League for the second-straight year. Tottenham currently have a four-point edge on Newcastle, who jumped Liverpool in the standings.

Meanwhile, Southampton clings to any hope of avoiding relegation. The Saints are in dead last.

Last weekend, the script went to plan for Tottenham. Hosting Nottingham at home, Forest struggled once again on the road. Spurs won comfortably, 3-1, on the back of a Harry Kane brace.

After two positive results for Southampton and four out of six possible points against Leicester City and Manchester United, respectively, the Saints fell short last weekend.

Brentford netted a goal in each half, taking the 2-0 win. But it’s still an extremely tight race at the bottom of the table. A win against Spurs would shoot Southampton up to 15th place if results go their way elsewhere in the league.
