Lionel Messi won’t appear on any show that features Jamie Carragher

Lionel Messi’s feud with Jamie Carragher appears to be very much ongoing.

Former Liverpool defender and current pundit Carragher revealed last year that Messi hadn’t taken too kindly to his suggestion that PSG had errored in signing the legendary Argentine.

“I had a little pop at [Cristiano] Ronaldo early in the season. I didn’t think it was a great signing for United. And I said the example of Messi, I didn’t think Messi was a great signing for PSG,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“I got a private message on Instagram from the man himself. I will not be showing private messages, but he basically called me a donkey.”

Nearly two years later, it appears that Messi — who left PSG to sign with Inter Miami earlier this year — hasn’t exactly forgiven Carragher.

CBS Sports brought its Champions League coverage to Miami this week, and the network sent a request to Inter Miami for Messi to join the show.

During Wednesday’s broadcast, host Kate Abdo revealed the terse response that the MLS club sent back.

“You know that we made an official invitation, extended one to Inter Miami and we asked him to come on the show. Do you know what the official response was from Inter Miami?” Abdo said.

“Apparently Lionel Messi will not be doing any television show that Jamie Carragher is a part of.”

Carragher responded: “That’s a claim to fame of mine! Who would you rather have, Messi or me?”

Earlier in the show, Carragher opined on the age-old Messi vs. Ronaldo debate, and showed that he didn’t let the ongoing spat with the Argentine cloud his analysis.

“It was never a debate,” Carragher said. “Ronaldo’s nowhere near the level of Messi. Ronaldo is one of the greatest goalscorers of all time, Messi is the greatest player of all time. It’s not even close.”
