Green Bay Packers’ Matt LaFleur Speaks Out on Aaron Jones’ Troubling Injury: ‘Certainly Looked Bad’

The Green Bay Packers may have secured an important win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night, but it certainly did not come without incident. Green Bay suffered a couple of injuries during the game, with none more significant than that of star running back Aaron Jones.

The Pro-Bowl RB had to be carted off the field in the first half after sustaining a knee injury that could now force him to sit out a significant period for the Packers.

Jones himself already stated that he does not believe he suffered an ACL injury during the game, which is obviously a good thing.

For his part, head coach Matt LaFleur could not help but get brutally honest about his initial thoughts after seeing Jones go down on the field:

“I don’t think it’s long term,” LaFleur said. “It certainly looked bad. I was really concerned. Just seeing it live, I didn’t see a replay or anything but seeing it live, it did not look good. But he’s in good spirits in there, so hopefully it’s a short-term thing.”

The biggest takeaway here, though, is that Coach LaFleur does not believe Jones will be out for very long. Then again, we will need to wait for the results of Jones’ tests, which will determine the actual extent of his injury.

Packers Also Lose Emanuel Wilson

As if losing Jones was not enough, the Packers will also be without rookie RB Emanuel Wilson after the 24-year-old also left the game against the Chargers. LaFleur conceded after the game that Wilson could be out for some time as well and that the team is now facing a considerable lack of depth in the RB spot:

“Emanuel Wilson was doing some good things out there as well. I don’t think it looks good for him as well, either,” LaFleur said. “We’re gonna be a little short at the running back position, but that’s something we’ll figure out.”
