Fitness trainer, 30, found dead, wrapped in cloth outside parents’ home after argument with hubby

A Brazilian fitness trainer was found dead outside her parents’ home after she got into a physical argument with her husband.

Débora “Debby” Michels’ body was wrapped in a red cloth and left on the sidewalk just yards from her parents’ home Friday, according to local media.

“Débora was a person very loved by everyone here in the community. Friends, family, everyone loved her,” her brother, Alex Michels, 41, told the outlet.

Her husband, Alexander Gunsch, 48, admitted to local authorities that he had killed Michels and ditched her body after turning himself in, the local outlet reported.

Gunsch told police that he grabbed and lifted Michels by the neck during the argument and threw her against a wardrobe, causing her to start feeling ill.

Afterward, Gunsch put his wife into the car to go to the hospital, but he realized she was already dead on the way.

He started to panic, so he dumped the body outside her parents’ house in Montenegro.

“He simply dumped this victim’s body in front of [her] parents’ residence. Not only did he discard the cellphone, but also the victim’s body,” a spokesperson for the police told GZH.

Police ruled Michels’ death a homicide and requested Gunsch be detained. He was arrested Sunday.

“It’s important for us to tell women not to remain silent, to seek help,” the spokesperson said. “The only way to stop these male attackers is for the authorities to do something, because they will never stop.”

Her family told the local outlet that their daughter had never told them about Gunsch becoming physical before, but the pair were in the process of separating.

Gunsch and Michels had been together for 11 years, according to GZH.

She was supposed to move into her own apartment the day after her death, the local outlet reported.

Her mother was reportedly supposed to help her pack her things the day she was found, but was awakened by the military police investigating her daughter’s death.

The personal trainer was well known for her love of fitness and she enjoyed her job, her brother said.

“The people at the gym, who worked with her, loved her smile and her joy in working. She loved what she did. She really liked it, and it really rubbed off on people, us in the family too. She was a captivating person, very special,” he said.

She had worked as a personal trainer since 2011 and used her social media platforms to share fitness tips and gym routines.

Michels also participated in bodybuilding competitions and worked at a gym in Montenegro.

Michels also held a degree in physical education from Unisinos, a Jesuit university in southern Brazil, according to GHZ.

While there, she met Gunsch, whom she helped train. They eventually got into a relationship and worked at the same gym, according to her 71-year-old father, Davi Rodrigues da Silva.

“They met there, had a relationship, fell in love,” he told the local outlet.

After learning the pair intended to separate, Rodrigues da Silva had gone to talk to Gunsch, he said.

Afterward, Gunsch put his wife into the car to go to the hospital, but realized she was already dead on the way. He started to panic, so he dumped the body outside her parents’ house in Montenegro. Newsflash

“I went to talk to him, because he is also a father. I believed. And at night he did this barbaric thing,” he told GZH. “We were a happy family. Now he’s destroyed everything.

“We have always done the most for our daughter. Let’s try to save her beautiful image. But it was incredibly evil. An atrocity. I only ask that justice be done, for the love of God. It’s such a huge pain. I wouldn’t want anyone to go through that.”

Her brother said: “This situation is revolting. What our family wants is justice. You cannot leave anyone unpunished.”

Her friend Deise Chemelo remembers the fitness guru as a “magnetic person.”

“She lit up every place she went; she only had friends, and she only did good,” Chemelo said. “A fighter, an entrepreneur, there is no explanation for what happened. She didn’t deserve it. We don’t understand.”

Michels’ funeral took place on Saturday. She was buried in the Municipal Cemetery of Montenegro.
