Film study: Why the Giants selected LB Darius Muasau in the 2024 NFL Draft

The New York Giants selected UCLA linebacker Darius Muasau with their sixth-round pick (183rd) in the 2024 NFL Draft. Muasau is an undersized 23-year-old linebacker with excellent eye-discipline and football intelligence.

Muasau’s athletic limitations, coupled with his smaller stature, are the reasons why he fell to the sixth round of the draft. Still, he has a quick trigger and operates well in the box. He lacks sideline-to-sideline range, and I question how he’ll execute man coverage assignments against NFL pass catchers.

Muasau played his first three seasons at Hawaii before transferring to UCLA. Over his last four seasons, he led his defense in tackles. He finished his college career with 440 tackles, 40 tackles for a loss, 16.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, 17 passes defended, and five interceptions over 3,640 collegiate snaps.
