FDNY finds body in boat fire across the street from world-famous NYC bar Sunny’s

Firefighters found a body inside a burning boat that was parked on the street across from a world-famous bar in Red Hook, Brooklyn early Saturday.

The FDNY responding to a call of a “dumpster fire” at 253 Conover St., between Beard and Reed streets in Red Hook, found flames shooting out of a boat on a trailer just before 5 a.m., the FDNY and NYPD said.

Stunned firefighters found the man’s body inside the boat, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The fire was reported across the street from Sunny’s, a Red Hook institution made famous by Anthony Bourdain, who called it one of the best bars in New York City.

The FDNY fire marshal is investigating what sparked the blaze, and a medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death, officials said.
