Delta Introduces Premium Select for New York-Los Angeles Flights – Business Traveler USA

Delta will introduce Delta Premium Select, also known as Premium Economy, on its flights between New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) this fall. Passengers will enjoy enhanced comfort and amenities while traveling coast to coast across the country.

The Delta Premium Select product was launched in 2017 as Delta’s answer to premium economy class. However, as of yet, it has only been available on long-haul transpacific and transatlantic flights and on flights to select international destinations in Latin America.

But now, it has been confirmed that the fare option will be available on domestic transcontinental services, albeit initially on selected flights on just one route.

Beginning on September 10, four of Delta’s 11 daily flights between JFK and LAX will be operated by a Boeing 767 aircraft equipped with the Delta Premium Select seats and the existing Delta One, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin offerings.

The Atlanta-based airline also said it plans to expand daily JFK-LAX transcon flights with Delta Premium Select availability later in the year.

The fare offers passengers more room to relax than in the Main Cabin, with a wide seat, a more recline, an adjustable footrest, and leg rest. Premium Select passengers are also provided with memory foam pillows, noise-canceling headphones, an improved blanket, and a premium amenity kit with sustainable artisans Someone Somewhere products.

Delta Premium Select was also recently upgraded to offer passengers more locally-inspired dining options, exclusive hand-crafted amenities, higher levels of customer service, and the option for pre-ordered in-flight meals.

On JFK to LAX flights this fall, passengers flying in Delta Premium Select will have in-flight dining selections curated by New York-based caterers Union Square Events. Options include braised turkey meatballs with arrabbiata sauce, mashed potato, sauteed kale, a summer vegetable lasagna with parmesan cream sauce, and cherry tomatoes.

Meanwhile, in-flight meals on flights from LAX will be provided by California-based Italian restaurant Jon & Vinny’s, with options including a mustard-marinated chicken thigh with mashed potato, kale, and roasted tomatoes or baked rigatoni with broccoli and bechamel sauce topped with parmesan.

“Delta Premium Select will bring a new level of comfort, luxury, and practicality to one of Delta’s most important routes in the domestic U.S. as we continue to work to deliver more premium experiences to our customers,” said Mauricio Parise, Vice President of Brand Experience Desing at Delta.

“This product has been a success internationally, especially following the recent investments we’ve made onboard, and we know that customers flying between New York and Los Angeles will enjoy the opportunity to treat themselves to a more spacious seat and premium experience.”
