Broncos await NFL review of safety Kareem Jackson’s hit on Vikings QB Josh Dobbs

All Broncos safety Kareem Jackson can do is wait.

The NFL is reviewing Jackson’s hit on Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs in Sunday night’s win for potential discipline, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Head coach Sean Payton is aware of the report and has already talked with the 35-year-old veteran.

“There’s nothing you can do except wait, and we’ll see where it goes,” Payton said on Monday morning.

Jackson returned to the field Sunday after serving a two-game suspension for a series of unnecessary roughness penalties. He has been fined on four separate occasions this season for illegal hits, totaling $89,670.

Three plays into Jackson’s first game back, he lowered his helmet and delivered a hit on Dobbs while outside linebacker Baron Browning forced the fumble. Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian recovered the ball, and no flags were thrown on the play.

Dobbs was evaluated in the medical tent but returned on Minnesota’s next possession. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters postgame that he thought Jackson should have been penalized.

“In the moment and coming from the second level the way (Jackson) did, it seemed like a pretty direct helmet-to-helmet type hit,” O’Connell said. “I’m sure (the referees) saw it differently. It happened fast out there, but we have to look at it.”
