Aqueduct, Laurel Join Tracks Canceling Racing Jan. 20

The New York Racing Association canceled racing Jan. 20 at Aqueduct Racetrack and morning training at Belmont Park due to arctic temperatures forecast to impact the New York metropolitan area throughout the day.

The $150,000 Interborough Stakes, which had been expected to headline the Saturday card, is now scheduled for Jan. 27, with entries to be taken Jan. 24.

The Maryland Jockey Club also canceled racing Jan. 19-21 at Laurel Park due to a winter storm that has dropped several inches of snow across Northern and Central Maryland.

Another Mid-Atlantic track, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, also canceled racing on both Friday and Saturday. There will also be no training there on Saturday.

Elsewhere around the country, Turfway Park and Oaklawn Park canceled upcoming racing programs. Turfway scrapped racing Friday and Saturday, and Oaklawn Park will not race on those dates, as well as Jan. 21.
