Who knew that animal carcasses would be a unique business idea for a New York-based woman? Reportedly, she had a freezer filled with animal carcasses and is now using them to create unique and stunning art, which she is selling online. While her art has grabbed attention, it has also left many in awe and generated much buzz on the internet.

40-year-old taxidermist, Emily Ulceus, is a resident of Long Island, New York. She used to work at a research centre where she was responsible for analysing specimens of deceased animals which were often found or donated by the public. She would use taxidermy methods of stuffing the animals and used to display a few of her samples.

However, this led to most animal remains being stored in freezers and never being used again, which resulted in piles of carcasses. Now, using a few of her taxidermy methods, she has immortalised the dead animals by turning them into various pieces of art as a way to “honour” the dead and avoid discarding their bodies.

The Mirror quoted Emily, “I either had to find some way to use them or they would be thrown away. But I couldn’t let them go to waste. It’s a way for me to pay tribute to the animal the way it was in life. Now instead of rotting away, they will stay beautiful and cherished forever.” Now, for her unique online business, the art pieces include stuffing snakes or other animals into glass jars and perfume bottles, and making keyrings and jewellery out of bones to name a few. She has also opened a store on Etsy, which helps her sell her art easily to her fans.

Depending on the item, the prices range from £25 (Rs 2,614) to £400, (Rs 41,830). Her unique items have earned her thousands of sales and many 5-star reviews. She sells items like small animals stuffed inside globes, an eel lightbulb, a mummified cockatoo, liqueur bottle with a carpet python’s carcass inside.

Emily Ulceus loves her business and her fiance has been very supportive and patient with her. Meanwhile, her kids have grown up seeing this.
